On Wednesday, Julie Hautzenroeder, 37, a former Cincinnati high school teacher learned she will spend two years in prison for having sex with a 16-year-old student. In November, authorities charged her with sexual crimes involving two male students. She had also smoked pot and drank alcohol with the two teenage boys in her house while her daughter was home.
A jury found the former Colerain H.S. teacher guilty of sexual battery involving one student, and not guilty on charges involving the second student.
Judge Norbert Nadel could have either sent her to prison for five years or given her probation. He settled on a two year prison stint. After her release, she must also register as a Tier III sex offender. Although she had no prior criminal record, Nadel said he found it necessary to send her to prison. He called her actions stupid and irresponsible.
