Former child singer Banig grows up

You may know her from Star Search and her appearance on “The Arsenio Hall Show” during the late 80’s that garnered her standing ovation from audience with her performance of “Get Up, Get Down, Get Funky, Get Loose.” Banig is ready to be rediscovered by the listening public.

This former child star is all grown up and still making an impact behind the scenes with her sister Jojo Roberto managing and writing music for other artists through their company Double Play Entertainment. However, after a long hiatus from performing, Josephine Banig Roberto finally returned to the stage during her intimate concert dubberd “unplugged series” held at the Clive Davis Theatre in the Grammy Museum Downtown Los Angeles.

"It's such a surreal feeling being on stage again after so many years of being away. Feeling the vibe, I'm thrilled of what's to come," says Banig.

With new management backing the former child prodigy singer, it was about time that Banig concentrated on her career. Assisted by her sister and business partner of their company Double Play Entertainment, the twosome produced the successful show.

Having a diverse crowd, attending her concert, Banig was able to get the crowd to bop heads and dance in their seats as she wowed the crowd with cover songs that mattered to her including Philippine King of Pop, Gary V’s “Di Na Tatuto.”

The singing siren hasn’t forgotten her roots as she dedicated the song “Bayan Ko” to all the OFW’s throughout the world.

Having been one of the few Filipinos who have graced the stage of the Clive Davis Theatre, it was an honor for Banig to come back into the music scene a stage that the likes of Lady Gaga and John Legend. The Grammy Museum has shown so much support for Banig in performing at the their venue.

That support also came in the form of all the fans who watched a recent segment of one of the most popular TV shows in the Philippines, "Kapuso Mo Jessica Soho” that reintroduced pinoys to the original international pinoy youth singing sensation. Banig mentions that people began posting positive comments on her Facebook after the airing of the show.

Banig ended her show with her new single, “He Wants To Get It” as got the crowd to join in and sing the chorus of her song.

Her next step is to promote the song and possibly perform at other venues.
