On Saturday, a dog was stolen from an adoption event in North Charleston, S.C., and a reward is offered for his safe return, reported ABC News 4.

LowCountry Animal Rescue was attending an adopt-a-thon at the Petco on Rivers Avenue when the theft took place.

In the afternoon, a man asked to see the pit bull and the dog was taken from his kennel and subsequently walked out of the store.

The rescue agency wrote the following Facebook post after Sampson's disappearance:

A man asked to see Sampson, our sweet pitbull, and then walked off with him! We WANT HIM BACK! Sampson is a very sweet, non-confrontational pitbull. HE WILL NOT FIGHT! We got him thru a court case were he was being used as a bait dog. We are so afraid that this may happen to him again.

The agency is hoping that someone will recognize Sampson and speak up. An $1,100 reward is offered for the dog's safe return.

Tips or information which may help with Sampson's safe return can be made to: 843-343-8063 or the local authorities.
