Allison Iraheta was the 16-year-old spitfire who finished third on season 8 of "American Idol" and now she is back in the music spotlight with "Gone." She premiered the brand new track with her band Halo Circus on Tuesday.
Iraheta rose to fame following her third-place finish on season 8 of "American Idol" in 2009, which featured a showdown between Kris Allen and Adam Lambert. Following her time on the show, she was signed to a record deal and released debut album "Just Like You." Unfortunately the record didn't take off on the charts and she ended up parting ways with Jive Records soon after. Allison took a lengthy break from the music scene up until today.
Now as a 21-year-old woman, Iraheta is putting out new music on her own terms with indie label Manimal. She also has the support of a band too, Halo Circus. The group's first single "Gone" premiered today and it is something powerful. On the dark rock ballad, Iraheta sings about being wronged by a former flame: "I'm obviously done / Overrun / Yeah, I'm gone." Her wild vocals from "Idol" seem to have gotten better with age as she delivers a beautifully pained performance. Welcome back, Allison.
Iraheta and Halo's single "Gone" will be released to iTunes on October 8.
