On January 26th, 2014, during the 56th Grammy Awards, Queen Latifah, an ordained minister, officially married thirty-three couples during a performance of "Same Love" by the award-winning hip-hop duo Macklemore & Ryan Lewis.
Among the newlyweds was the magician Seth Grabel, who had previously been a contestant on America's Got Talent.
Grabel appeared during AGT's 6th season. After making the Top 48, he competed during the third week of quarter-finals. He had clearly invested much into the performance, but some questionable misdirection and, more critically, a strong showing by his competition stifled his chances of advancing.
Grabel came in behind Lys Agnès, POPLYFE and Landau Eugene Murphy Jr., all three of whom later placed in the Top 10, and was rejected for the judges' choice in favor of Professor Splash, whom had set a world record with his performance the night before.
Grabel was later brought back as one of Howie Mandel's wild card picks, where his bad luck continued; two of his wild card competitors, Landon Swank and the West Springfield Dance Team, also placed in the Top 10.
Grabel was married on Sunday to Tammy Shaw, publisher of Las Vegas Woman magazine.
"I have never been so happy," Shaw was reported to have said. "I have found my partner for life and we are having so much fun on this journey."
"It is an amazing love story," Grabel added. "Tammy and I starting dating less than a year ago and are now are husband and wife."
