It appears Stephon Marbury will continue his basketball career in China and is close to re-signing with the Shanxi Zhongyu Brave Dragons of the Chinese Basketball Association for next season.
Marbury, who last played for the Boston Celtics during the 2008-09 season, was originally selected 4th overall in the 1996 NBA Draft by the Milwaukee Bucks and promptly traded in a draft-day deal to the Minnesota Timberwolves in exchange for Ray Allen and a future first-round draft pick.
The two-time All-Star averaged 19.3 ppg, 7.6 apg and 3.0 rpg in an NBA career that spanned 13 seasons with five different teams.
During the 2010 season with the Brave Dragons, Marbury averaged 22.9 ppg, 9.3 apg and 5.9 rpg in 15 games.
Marbury quickly endeared himself to Chinese fans and was selected to play in the CBA All-Star game, in which he scored 30 points and dished out 10 assists, while earning All-Star MVP honors for his performance.
