Boca Juniors look to be in the market for a big name, although with fans of the Xeneize they would much rather see Juan Román Riquelme renewed. Reports in Argentina surfaced on Friday saying that Uruguayan international Diego Forlán was in the team's radar. Some are talking about a reunion for Juan Román Riquelme and Forlán dating back to their days at Spanish side Villarreal. Until this day, both players have a great relationship.
Despite the names of various players being mentioned by the club's board the one that has been repeated is the current Cerezo Osaka forward. The player's agent, Daniel Bolotnikoff (same agent Riquelme), reportedly already met with some Boca board members and would like to look at the possibility of Forlán coming back to Argentina to play after a 13-year absence.
The move would see Forlán returning way before time as he currently finds himself serving an 18-month contract with the Japanese side. Part of that contract is paid by the Japanese government as he was brought in to be the face of the club as well as the J-League for the international audience.
Yet according to these same reports, Forlán is looking to return to South American to "compete at a high level" after only three months in Japan. Could we see the 2010 Golden Ball back in South American football?
