Forget the speed and go for fun at the Lubbock Color Run

Registration is now open for the Lubbock Color Run being held on Saturday, March 23rd. For those unfamiliar with the Color Run, this is a one-of-a-kind 5k focused 100% on having fun. White (or mostly white) shirts are required at the start. The fun part comes every 1k where you run through a color zone and get doused with (safe and natural) color. Each zone is associated with a different color, guaranteeing a Picasso-like finish line picture.
The event starts at the Mackenzie Park entrance at Broadway and Canyon Lakes Drive at 9am. Runners and walkers are both welcome. This isn’t a timed event, so I suggest leaving your Garmin at home and just plan on having fun.
Registration is $40 for individuals or $35 for team members (with at least 4 to a team). Kids under 5 can run with you for free. The price increases by $5 on February 1st and this event fills up fast, so I encourage you to sign up quick. Proceeds benefit the Impact Lubbock/TTUHSC Free Clinic.
With such a unique event come a lot of questions, so check out their FAQs page to get more detailed info. If you’d rather stay on the sidelines, but still want to check out the action, volunteers are always welcome.
