Forgestoker Dragon from "Born of the Gods"
Wizards of the Coast

Forgestoker Dragon is one of the newest "Born of the Gods" spoilers revealed today Jan 13, 2014 by the Oracle of Theros in a tweet on Twitter. "Fire. Lots of fire." Previously rumored as Firestir Dragon, we now have the official English card wording, along with the flavor text and artwork which players will find when they open Forgestoker Dragon in a booster pack.

Forgestoker Dragon - 4RR
Creature - Dragon (Rare)
1R: Forgestoker Dragon deals 1 damage to target creature. That creature can't block this combat. Activate this ability only if Forgestoker Dragon is attacking.
The Akroans fashion their helms to honor the dragons, not to protect against them, as that would be of little help.

Although Forgestoker Dragon may not be as powerful compared to Thundermaw Helkite its ability lets you stop an adversary's creatures from blocking. While its activated ability is a bit mana intensive, you'll be able to activate Forgestoker Dragon three times in one turn which should be enough to win the game especially in limited where Forgestoker Dragon will rule the skies (barring an Archtype of Imagination or Skyreaping).

Forgestoker Dragon lets you get monstrosity creature cards such as Ember Swallower, Polukranos, World Eater, Stormbreath Dragon, and Polis Crusher through your opponent's defences, giving you valuable late game reach. .

Most of the time you'll simply use Forgestoker Dragon to swing in unopposed, however its activated ability can prove useful for taking out small threats. Forgestoker Dragon might see play as a potential addition to a Domri Rade deck and is also an excellent mana sink for Xenagos, the Reveler.

Forgestoker Dragon will be one of the five prerelease promos for "Born of the Gods."

How will you use Forgestoker Dragon?
