The U.S. Forest Service (USFS) is considering revising its Volunteer Application and Agreement for
Natural and Cultural Resources Agencies. USFS is seeking public comment on its proposed revisions until Nov. 22.
USFS announced the proposal on Friday, Sept. 13. For details, see http://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/pkg/FR-2013-09-13/html/2013-22259.htm.
The current form is authorized for use only through the end of this year.
USFS uses the form to manage volunteers. Applicants and volunteers must complete the form. Anyone under the age of 18 needs permission from a parent or guardian. USFS says it takes most people between six and 15 minutes to provide the info.
Other agencies also use the form, including the National Park Service, Natural Resources Conservation Service, Fish & Wildlife Service, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Bureau of Land Management and others.
USFS is also introducing a proposed new OF-301B Volunteer Sign-up Form for Groups. It explains that the “form is used by participating resource agencies to document awareness and understanding between a federal agency and a partner organization with group participants about the volunteer activities.”
