Forest Preserve golf courses open for 2014

According to the web site for Forest Preserve Golf, all of its golf courses are now open for 2014. Some courses like George W. Dunne National and Highland Woods were open during the winter months, weather permitting. Of course, this winter’s Polar Vortex and high, snowfall amounts did not permit these two courses to open. (Even with this winter’s cold temperatures and high, snow fall amounts, the driving range at George W. Dunne golf course may have been open every day.)

Forest Preserve Golf has two, nine holes courses and eight, 18 holes courses. From the rear teeing grounds, the total yardage for all 18 holes courses is 49,560 yards. From the rear teeing grounds, the total yardage for both nine holes courses is 6,512 yards.

George Dunne National Golf Course is Forest Preserve Golf’s, longest, 18 holes course. On every hole, this course has four teeing grounds. From the rear, Gold teeing grounds, the average, total yardage to the putting greens is 7,262 yards. Six thousand six hundred seventy-seven yards is the average, total yardage from the Blue teeing grounds. Six thousand one hundred forty-eight yards is the average, total distance from the White teeing grounds. From the front, Red teeing grounds, the average, total distance is 5,452 yards.

Meadowlark Golf Course is Forest Preserve Golf’s, longest, nine holes course. From the rear, Blue teeing grounds, the average, total distance to the putting greens is 3,404 yards. Three thousand two hundred fifty-three yards is the average, total distance from the middle, White teeing grounds. From the front, Red teeing grounds, the average, total distance is 2,872 yards.

There should not be any snow piles remaining on any Chicago-land golf courses. I doubt that snow plows received permission to dump snow that they removed from streets onto golf courses. Some parking lots could possibly have small, snow piles.
