Forest Lawn Cemetery, located at 1411 Delaware Ave. in Buffalo, is seeking volunteers for a tree planting in cooperation with Re-Tree WNY on Friday and Saturday, November 1st and 2nd, from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. both days. The event will be held rain or shine.
The public is invited to assist with the planting of approximately 300 bare root deciduous hardwood trees throughout Forest Lawn as part of the facility’s ongoing efforts to “return the forest to Forest Lawn” through its Landscape Renewal Plan. 250 of the trees were funded through a grant from the Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo.
Prior planting experience is not necessary; a brief training session will take place on each day. Tools and refreshments will be provided, but volunteers are welcome to bring their own tools if they prefer. Participants are asked to wear appropriate work clothing and closed-toe shoes or boots.
Volunteers can participate on one or both days, depending on availability. Registration is not required, but it is appreciated. Those wishing to volunteer can call Catherine Meyer at Forest Lawn at 716-885-1606, ext. 242 or email her at email@example.com.
