Louisville, Kentucky's very own, Forecastle Festival, a three-day arts and music festival, has announced today, September 4, dates for 2014. The event will take place July 18-20 at Louisville's Waterfront Park. These dates are specifically set to coincide with the birthday of Kentucky native, Hunter S. Thompson, who was born in Louisville on July 18, 1937. Of the scheduled dates and Thompson, Forecastle founder, JK McKnight states, "As Hunter S. Thompson said, 'buy the ticket, take the ride.' We have much more in store to make next year's festival a ride to remember."
Discounted hotel rooms for Forecastle are already in place and now available through ForecastleFest.com, along with exclusive pre-sales, travel packages with varied hotels, including Brown Hotel, Seelbach Hiton, among others becoming available later this year. Also in 2014, festival line-up and details will be announced. Since its inception in 2002, Forecastle has featured over 500 bands, 100 artists, and 150 environmental, along with outdoor recreational organizations. These bands and artists include such popular and iconic acts as The Black Keys, Robert Plant, My Morning Jacket, The Flaming Lips, The Smashing Pumpkins, The Avett Brothers, Wilco, String Cheese Incident, and dozens more.
