Forecast: Mostly cloudy and windy with scattered snow showers on Monday

Weather Alert: A Wind Advisory is in effect for the entire Chicago area from midnight CST to 4pm CST Monday.

After a historic nor'easter moved further off the coast of the United States today, another system moved into the nation's midsection producing a major winter storm/blizzard across the Dakotas and Minnesota and severe weather including tornadoes across the Gulf Coast. Rain showers fell over the Chicago area today. Now that the rain has ended, strong west/southwest winds will develop this evening and persist through the early evening hours on Monday. In addition, scattered or periodic snow showers will occur during the day on Monday as cooler air moves into the region. Accumulations will be light and on the order of less than one inch.

Tuesday and Wednesday: High pressure moves into the region Tuesday and will sit over the region through Wednesday with high temperatures ranging slightly above normal (38-45 degrees).

Thursday: A clipper system passes to our north the latter half of Thursday as clouds and the chance for snow showers/flurries increases across the area. Accumulations here will be light as well (<1").

Friday: Snow showers will linger around through much of the day.

The weather will be dry the weekend with colder air seeping into the region.
