"This is the most important product we have, at least to me personally. Every time we unveil a Mustang, the stakes are raised, and yes, I get nervous," said Bill Ford, chairman of Ford Motor Company. "But more than that, I'm really excited."
The new vehicle is lower and wider than the current model, retaining the signature shark bite front grill.
Under the hood, there will be three different engines options made available:
- A 3.7-liter V6 with at least 300 bhp (223 kW) and 270 lb-ft (365 Nm) of torque
- A 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder with more than 305 bhp (227 kW) and 300 lb-ft (406 Nm) of torque
- A 5.0-liter V8 with more than 420 bhp (313 kW) and 390 lb-ft (528 Nm) of torque
This new sleek new look represents the sixth-generation of Mustang design, according to Ford. It will be available for purchase in the fall of 2014.
