Ford impenetrable in goal as Texas Stars shut out San Antonio Rampage

The Texas Stars got their third shutout of the season against their instate rival San Antonio Rampage winning 2-0 at the Cedar Park Center on Tuesday night.  The Stars relied heavily on goalie Todd Ford, on loan from the ECHL South Carolina Stingrays, as he turned away 36 shots and faced six Rampage power play opportunities in the division win.  The shutout was Ford's first in the AHL and improved his record to 1-0-1 in the league.

Defenseman Ivan Vishnevskiy scored what turned out to be the game winner on a power play at 10:31 of the first period with a wicked slap shot from the blue line that got through traffic and past Rampage goalie Justin Pogge.  Stars right winger Sergei Korostin added an insurance goal at 6:32 of the final period by deflecting a pass from center Aaron Gagnon for the second goal of the night for the Stars. 

The win improved the Stars record to 22-13-2-4 (50 points) on the season and moved back into a first place tie with the Milwaukee Admirals in the West.  The Stars are back in action on Friday night as they host the Toronto Marlies at the Cedar Park Center.
