Ford Focus RS races Dodge Caliber SRT-4

An interesting race taking place at 7,000 feet above sea level, the Ford Focus RS verse the Dodge Caliber SRT-4 brings together the domestic turbocharged scene. The Ford Focus RS recently ran a seven minute lap time when modified liberally at Nurburgring, but the Caliber SRT-4 still puts up a fierce competition when racing the Ford Focus RS stock. The modifications of these vehicles are unknown, but it's safe to say from watching the video that they are running custom exhaust. Whether you are a Ford or Dodge fan, it's great to see turbocharged competition from modern hatchbacks.

These hatchies mean business! Most hatchbacks are expected to be slow, and guzzle gas. Not anymore, because these two are breaking the rules. The Caliber SRT-4 features a turbocharged 2.4 liter, inline four cylinder engine that cranks out 285 horsepower at 6,000 RPM. The 2.4 liter is known for it's torque, and this Caliber brings plenty of torque to the table. Three hundred and fifty two foot pounds of torque at only 2,000 RPM yields plenty of seat sticking power! The Ford Focus RS is no snail either, and this unique hatchback yields a turbocharged, 2.5 liter inline five cylinder engine with 305 horsepower and 325 foot pounds of torque.

Both of these vehicles are very comparable, and it's sad to see the Caliber SRT-4 enter "no longer available" status for 2010. What was Dodge thinking? A refrigerator and a turbo, it can't get any better. In the following video you will see one of Dodge's lost souls whooping the snot out of Ford's newest creation.
