Ford asks employees to bring vintage Mustangs to Dearborn on April 17

On April 17, 2014 Ford Motor Company will celebrate Mustang’s 50th birthday at a Ford Employee Mustang Show in front of Ford’s Dearborn, MI World Headquarters building.*

Employee support
As part of the celebration, Ford wants to display one Mustang from every year since Mustang was first introduced. Employee response has been strong but as of this weekend, Ford still needs employee-owned Mustangs from these years: 1972, 1974, 1975, 1976, 1978, 1980, 1981, 1982, 1983, 1986, 1987, 1992 or 2002.

To help locate as many of these Mustangs as possible, Ford sent a special email to Ford employees and retirees through the company’s Blue Oval Connect electronic newsletter. The newsletter contained an email address and an online entry form. In the form, employees were asked to submit their name, model year of their Mustang and a photograph.

Ford says any employee whose Mustang is chosen to participate in the celebration will receive a memento of the occasion.

Model T's and T-birds
In previous years Ford has held events at the company’s World Headquarters building to honor owners of vintage Ford products like the Model T and the Thunderbird. During the company’s 100th anniversary celebration in 2003, owners of vintage Fords displayed their cars in front of Ford’s iconic “Glass House” world headquarters building.

*Note: The Employee Mustang Celebration will be held at Ford World Headquarters South Lot - Visitor's Lot. Parking will be available in Lot #5 on the east side of the building and in Lot #6 in front of Ford Credit. This is an employee/retiree event and each employee/retiree may bring up to three guests to the celebration.
