Forced out of action, Mavs' Kaman slams league concussion policy

Struggling to find wins recently, the Dallas Mavericks are now beginning to take it out verbally on the league.
Rick Carlisle was recently fined $25,000 after criticizing the officials for a no-call in the final seconds of their loss at Golden State.
Now, Chris Kaman is lashing out about the league’s mandatory concussion tests that will continue to keep him sidelined until at least the weekend.
According to DallasBasketball.com, Kaman referred to the tests as “protocol crap” and said “It’s the stupidest test ever. For so many years in the NBA, they never had to do that stuff and now they come up with all that.”
Concussions are quickly becoming a huge concern in sports recently. It’s being talked about in football more than anywhere else, but it’s logical that such talk would lead to other leagues looking to take action.
The NFL is currently battling a class action suit from several former players who claim the league didn’t do enough to prevent them from getting concussions and other serious injuries during their playing days. At the same time, a bill is being passed through the Texas legislature to possibly restrict high school teams’ full contact practices.
Kaman, meanwhile, has been out of action since Jan. 28 when he bumped his head in practice and is reportedly still experiencing headaches. He is scheduled to undergo more tests on Wednesday, but cannot be cleared to play until Saturday’s game against the Warriors if he passes. The Mavs will host Portland on Wednesday.
