The Forbes richest 400 people in America has made its annual appearance, reminding the rest of us just how far we lag behind our nation’s most affluent residents. The Forbes 400 list dropped on Sept. 16, carrying an inside look at the top earners.
The 400s combined net worth is a whopping $1.7 trillion – up almost 20 percent from last year. The increase in wealth is likely due to a real estate recovery and a robust stock market that saw some significant gains over the last year.
The minimum net worth is up too. It takes a billionaire to make the Forbes 400 these days. The “poorest” Forbes lister comes in at $1.3 billion.
Overall, the rich are getting much richer – 314 of the 400 members on the 2012 list increased their wealth. Only 30 lost money.
Take a walk through the top ten on the Forbe’s 400 list.
