Forbes Magazines Most Dangerous Cities in the U.S.

Forbes Magazine, using the FBI uniform crime report from 2010 has rated the most dangerous cities in the United States. They looked at cities with over 200,000 people for there report. There ratings were based on the number of violent crimes per 100,000 people.

The crimes included in there ratings were murder, non-negligent manslaughter, forcible rape, robbery and aggravated assault. They use the term forcible rape so statutory rape is not included in their statistics. The term non-negligent manslaughter is used so vehicular accidents and other accidents where manslaughter is charged are not included.

Number 5 on the list of most dangerous cities is Anchorage, Alaska. Forbes in it’s report contends that a high incidence of forcible rape and heavy methamphetamine use are major contributing factors. Anchorage has 813 violent crimes per 100,000 people

Flint, Michigan is the 4th most dangerous city in the U.S. according to Forbes, with 827 violent crimes per 100,000 people. The poor local economy and high unemployment rate are cited as Flints’ major problems.
