Guess who tops Forbes list as the top-grossing actor in 2013? Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson may not have been the first guess, or even the second. Okay, he may have not even been guess at all, but as E! Online reports on Dec. 16, Johnson has beat out Robert Downey Jr. as the top-grossing actor.
The Rock, as known by WWE fans, mainly profited from two of his films. Both “Fast & Furious 6” and “G.I. Joe: Retaliation”, brought in over $1.3 billion at the global box office, beating out Downey’s “Iron Man 3”. It was Dwayne Johnson’s multiple films, which enabled him to beat out Downey despite “Iron Man 3” out performing the multi-star “Fast & Furious 6” at the box office.
It should be noted that grosses are not the same thing as actual earnings. Downey did beat out Johnson in that category earning and estimated $75 million, out earning The Rock by $29 million.
Rounding out Forbes list, released on Dec. 16, was Steve Carell, Sandra Bullock, and “Fast & Furious 6” co-star Vin Diesel. Dwayne Johnson’s other co-star, the late Paul Walker, came in at the sixth spot on the list.
