The Utah seasons are changing, it is getting darker earlier and just around the corner is Halloween. We know that no time of the year is better or worse for fitness and health then another time of the year, save only for the reason of outdoor activities. We know that spring and summer time early mornings and early evenings are wonderful times for walking or running for fitness. The days are lighter earlier and stay lighter later in the day. We are well aware that come fall our fitness desires start to wane a little. But the waning of our fitness goals might start to take a back seat to the safety of outside work outs.
Even in Utah, which is probably one of the safest and most family friendly states in the nation, there are those whose intent is to cause problems for someone else. Certain groups of individuals take the dark of the evenings and early mornings during the Utah fall and winter times to aid their malicious deeds. There are a number of ways to continue on your fitness routines and be safe at the same time. Go for walks with a friend or a group, take a whistle to blow in emergency situations, keep a phone with you that has police on speed dial, carry a light among other possible solutions to your fitness goals.
By all means don’t give up because of negative community issues, just be prepared to succeed.
