If you like fresh, filling, and hearty food without the meat, then you'll love Harrison Street Cafe. Offering both sit-down and take-out meals, this vegan and vegetarian eatery is convenient for all.

Harrison Street Café provides a variety of breakfast and lunch items. For breakfast, the menu is simple – bagels with cream cheese ($2.50), granola and yogurt, and homemade baked goods. Breakfast is served all day.

The lunch menu is more expansive, encompassing not only soups and salads but a variety of sandwiches which include fresh vegetables, tempeh, and tofu. Most of the sandwiches are in the price range of $5.85 to $7.75.

If you stop by, try a favorite - like the "Tempeh, Artichoke, and Mozzarella Sub" for $7.20. All sandwiches are served with a side of chips, though chips can be substituted for soup, salad, or a side dish for a small price. Side dishes can be found located on a board outside of the restaurant and by the register.

To pair with their food, patrons can also purchase water, soda, coffee, and tea for fairly low prices.

The atmosphere of the restaurant is very laidback. Patrons can choose to sit downstairs in a large booth or upstairs at smaller tables. The walls are covered with art from local Richmond, Va. artists. Located upstairs is a variety of reading materials from books to magazines to local newspapers.

Harrison Street Café is located at 402 N. Harrison St. in Richmond, Va. right off of Virginia Commonwealth University’s main Monroe Park Campus. It is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m., and on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.
