Bob Brown, pastor of Albuquerque's Christ Community Fellowship wrote the following:
Have you ever considered the true purpose of your life? There is only one of you and God made you for a purpose!
This is a big question and it can't be fully answered in one setting, but I would like to share one verse of scripture with you: I Thess. 4:3a,
"For this is the will of God, your sanctification..."
Most believers will know that the word "sanctify" comes from the idea to set apart from one group and place in another, or to have one purpose and then have another purpose, etc.
Simply put, the word "sanctification" refers to something that is being put to its correct use; it means the fulfillment of the purpose for which was originally intended!
The purpose of the Lord Jesus Christ in being a man on earth (Acts 2:22) was for there to be a demonstration of God's divine activity in and through a man. The same is true of us as Christians - what the Lord Jesus was to the Father, we are to be to Jesus; we are, by faith (Gal 2:20), to allow Him to be manifested in us (II Cor. 4:7-12).
What is the true purpose of our life? For the Christian, it is our sanctification! [ellipses in original]
