For the weekend - Louisville shows and auditions (July 18 edition)

See also

Only one show opens this week but it's a classic one. Hayswood Theatre brings forth the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical The King and I, which looks at a clash between ancient tradition and Western culture. It's considered one of that duo's finest, and, as far as I know, hasn't been performed in the Louisville-area community theatre scene in awhile. Get out to Corydon, take in the historic sites, and check this show out while you can.

Don't forget the Kentucky Shakespeare shows, as well. All three of them happen this weekend. Check the company's website for more information.

Also, there are no fewer than four auditions taking place this weekend, including one tonight (Wayward Actors), and three on Sunday (Whodunnit, Clarksville Little Theatre, and Hayswood Theatre). The shows are of different varieties so come on out to these this weekend. There are spots to fill in all those shows.

Finally, a question I have had was when will the season previews go up. Those will actually be starting this coming week. I already did the Whodunnit and, I think, the Centerstage, season previews, and I'll post links to them within the next "for the weekend" article. Not sure which ones or in which order I'm going to do them, as not every company has officially announced their upcoming seasons yet.

In the meantime, enjoy!
