For the weekend - Louisville shows and auditions (July 11 edition)

This weekend, The Bard's Town will host a rather provocative, suspense-filled production Bug. One person, on the run from an abusive partner, comes into contact with a drifter and wind up staying at a seedy motel room. What follows will be plenty of paranoia, conspiracy theories, the return of the abusive partner, and, as the title suggests, bugs. Check out the production but be forewarned, the show contains adult situations, language, and nudity.

Meanwhile, Derby Dinner and KY Shakespeare continue their respective productions. Derby Dinner's Mary Poppins brings forth happy times and saving the Banks family (specifically, the father, if you've seen the Saving Mr. Banks movie). KY Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream is one of Shakespeare's most well-known comedies. Bring a lawn chair (and perhaps bug spray) for this event.

Finally, don't forget about the upcoming auditions for both plays and full seasons. There's two this coming week through Alley Theater and Mind's Eye Theatre. Meanwhile, Whodunnit Murder Mystery Theater and Clarksville Little Theatre will have their respective auditions next weekend. More are certainly to follow in the weeks leading up to most theatre companies's season opening shows.

The Bard's Town hosts Bug until July 20.
