It’s almost Spring with so much to look forward to. Flowers blooming, birds singing, young men’s thoughts turning. . . . . . And let’s remember that new “spring wardrobe”! Toss off the
fuzzy sweaters, wooly scarves, fur-lined boots – and embrace the best part of Spring . . . . new shoes. In all their luscious colors, not to mention fun and flirty styles. http://shoes.about.com/od/springshoeswomens/tp/Spring-Shoe-Trends-2013.h...
Our “love affair” with shoes begins very early. Even as a little girl you probably looked forward to a new pair of shoes. Anyone remember your first really dressy holiday shoes, maybe patent leather with a bow? Or your first pair of heels? “T” strap or “peep-toe”? Beginning with the rise of the hemline in the 1920’s, shoes became more than a necessity to keep your feet warm, dry, etc. They now made a fashion statement, accessorizing the entire outfit. A shoe that didn’t “work” could ruin the whole ensemble! http://doloresmonet.hubpages.com/hub/HistoryofShoes19thand20thCenturyWom...
Have you ever noticed someone wearing a lovely, diaphanous dress, in soft pastels – and then looked at her feet? Did she pick those shoes on purpose? Did she look in the mirror before going out?
Of course, trendy styles can be fun – even if a littleweird.http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/10/01/celine-shoes-spring-2013_n_1929... However, most of us prefer our shoes to “compliment” our outfits – not be the only thing people are looking at!
Shoes, just like anything we wear, say a lot about us. Are we fun and flirty? Elegant and stylish?
Casual and comfortable? Sporty, sexy, practical, girl-next- door . . . . . . . .? You get the idea!
Regardless of our personal style, we need to remember, shoes are a big part of the overall image.
So choose wisely – but have fun! Skip lightly and joyously into spring on the wings of a new pair of shoes!
