New research shows that women 60 and over benefit significantly from one day of exercise a week, that includes cardiovascular and weight training. Over a 16-week period a group of women increased their muscle mass, improved their leg press by 45 pounds and lowered their heart rate during exercise by 18 beats per minute! This means that, ‘the women required much less effort to complete the same daily task following the exercise program.’
SilverSneakers™ is a supplemental insurance program, that grants members access to a network of fitness centers nationwide. This program is offered with no out of pocket cost to the members. Some insurance providers offer this to program members who are eligible for Medicare and group retirees.
