For Parents of Students with Dyslexia and Other Learning Disabilities

One of the great things about living in a big city, specifically Phoenix and its surrounding area, is that there are so many amazing people doing amazing things. The socioeconomic structure is diverse, and the foundations, charities, and programs are abundant. You just need to know where to find them.

I recently connected with former Cardinals player Robert Tate and want to share his foundation with you. The mission of the Robert Tate Foundation is to mentor the children in our communities with Dyslexia and other learning disabilities through educational programs, scholarships and mentoring, so they have the chance to learn and reach their full potential. As you may remember from your own childhood, going through school can be a struggle, especially when faced with life’s stressors such as moving, divorce, death, and yes, having a learning disability is certainly included in that list, both for the parent and the student.

If you are on facebook, find the Robert Tate Foundation and give them a “like”. You can also visit their website here to find out more about them. Consider attending their Celebrity Basketball Game for a fun family night out on Tuesday, March 5th, 2013, from 6-8pm at Chandler High School. Come join us and your favorite local athletes for a family-friendly celebrity basketball game to raise money for this great cause. There will be an autograph signing session at halftime, as well as raffles such as a bike, Xbox, Plasma TV, and more. A minimum donation of $5 per ticket is suggested. Come have some quality family time for less than the cost of a movie, and support a great cause.
