Christmas is upon us again. Amazing how quickly yet another 12 months passes by. As a child this was arguably the most exciting time of the year for me. I loved all of the family hanging out in the pool, swimming, running around, playing on the beach and having fun. When we immigrated to the USA, Christmas became a cold, snow filled event, with unique challenges and new adventures.
My son (11) asked me this question today. Why do the atheists celebrate Christmas if they reject Jesus? That's a deep question coming from an 11 year old, and ignored by most of the atheists and church people Alike. Why do we chose to ignore Jesus in Christmas? We give gifts to celebrate His birth, and Gods gift to the world, but then we go around judging others, and their belief system, as if we have any right to judge anybody. The bible says that God so loved the world that He gave us His son. That's what we actually celebrate during Christmas. We celebrate Gods love for the world, and despite this the modern church chooses to judge, condemn the same world that God chose to love.
I guess I missed the memo that was sent out from heaven declaring the Christmas season a time to judge the world. If the church and it's membership would chose instead to replicate the love of God to people who are not of our faith, we would start the revolution. The revolution of love is coming dear reader, and I pray this day that it starts with you!
