For control of Obamacare HHS starts small

The Department of Health and Human Services who is now in charge of Obamacare has been financing studies to control the cost of government funded healthcare. They decided to start small in 1995 by paying twenty million dollars to find out how much oxygen a premature baby really needs. Not to alarm the single mother’s dependant on government care, the program was called SUPPORT. (Surfactant Positive Airway Pressure Pulse Oximetry Randomized Trial) It was also referred to as BOOST. (Benefits of Oxygen Saturation Targeting)

Each of the mothers that signed up for this clinical trial was told the government would closely monitor their prematurely born children. What was not explained was the lucky ones would be in the control group with standard care. The randomly chosen trial group would have oxygen levels manipulated to document the effects of too little or too much. Too little can cause brain damage and death, too much can cause blindness and later blood vessel problems.

The barbarity of these experiments might cause one to wonder what happened to the Hippocratic Oath, Nuremburg code or the Declarations of Medical ethics. The excuse as heard too many times before is it was for the greater good. The current administration could claim ignorance over a program started well before their assent to power but their own Kathleen Sebelius was in charge when it was verified in 2012 and updated in December of the same year. (Clinical Trials)

It seems the only one to take offense at these experiments was a Michael Carome of the HHS ethics department. In March of last year his department sent a letter declaring the consent forms “failed to describe the reasonably foreseeable risks of blindness, neurological damage and death”. (Consent forms) Sometimes timing is everything and Obama at the same time was trying to convince more people to sign up for government healthcare as his HHS was suffocating babies. Three months later HHS was assured no corrective action or punishment would be forthcoming. Obamacare met its numbers all is forgiven.

Since we as mere citizens have had Obamacare fostered upon us by those in control there is little recourse now that it has passed and we know what is in it. We are told it is the law of the land just like segregation and prohibition. Information like the clinical trials as outlined here show the type of people in charge of our healthcare in the near future. As we continue to blindly accept the mandates, waivers, missed delays and increases in uninsured what does it say about us as a people?

Before the Democrat Party was taken over by progressives Hubert Humphrey expressed in his last speech to his party “"...the moral test of government is how that government treats those who are in the dawn of life, the children; those who are in the twilight of life, the elderly; those who are in the shadows of life; the sick, the needy and the handicapped.”
