I suspect many film fans dream of writing a screenplay. For those who take the aspiration seriously the 3rd annual Toronto Screenwriting Conference takes place March 31 and April 1 at the Ted Rogers School of Management.
Founded by Glenn Cockburn of Meridian Artists literary agency, the Toronto Screenwriting Conference brings together leading screenwriters, producers and directors to provide attendees with an intensive two days of training and discussion. The workshops and keynote addresses offer a professional approach to screenwriting and permit attendees the opportunity to learn from award-winning script writers as well as studio, network and production company executives.
Guest speakers at this year’s conference include Linwood Boomer (creator and executive producer of Malcolm in the Middle), Sheldon Bull (writer, producer, director of TV sitcoms including Newhart, Coach and Sabrina the Teenage Witch), Dara Marks (script consultant and author of Inside Story: The Power of the Transformational Arc), David F. Shamoon (writer and executive producer of Academy Award nominee In Darkness), and Stephanie Morgenstern and Mark Ellis (co-writers and executive producers of the CTV/CBS drama Flashpoint).
Anyone interested in attending can register online. Act fast if you want to save some money because early bird registration ends Sunday, Feb. 19.
