Footwear that kicks the mold to the curb (Photos)

For shoe designs that are totally out of the box, we can turn our attention to the footwear styles brought to us from Euro workshops. The svelte shapes, color combinations and dynamic detailing of European footwear is over the top. But, honestly, what shoe diva wants to wear the same old style shoes all the time?

One trend that is slowly seeping into American closets is the inverted wedge. These shoes feature an inward curving or cutout below the back part of the sole. They may look a bit intimidating but wearing them feels like walking on air in a pair of wedges. The Grain Stripe Curved Wedge by Shoe Republic is a great example of this aerodynamic shoe style.

Super high pumps that don sizable platforms have been around for several decades. But options like the Jovelyn-02 pump from Wild Diva kick it up a notch. This artistic shoe has a 7-inch heel but is brought down to size with a 3.5-inch platform. The cutout portion of the platform makes it utterly unique.

Bringing together unseemly genres into one piece is a favorite methodology of European designers. The Classy-05 Wedge with Laces by Yoki resembles that statement without remorse. The mix of the classic Oxford-style shoe in pale blue shades with the ultra-modern cutout wooden wedge is a rebel in the world of the mundane shoe.

Whatever your style, event or shoe fetish, look beyond the great blue sea to the fashion styling of Euro-artistic designs to stand out. Although every style and every trend may not suit your fancy, there is something for every heel lover to be found.
