FOOTHILLS ANIMAL SHELTER - Foothills is ending with a splash. The Golden animal shelter is offering free animal adoptions for all pets Friday and Saturday as it stretches toward the finish line to win $100,000 in a national competition.
Foothills is one of 50 shelters nationally competing n the fifth and final year of the ASPCA Rachael Ray $100K Challenge. From June 1 – August 31, the shelter has been striving save more animals’ lives compared to the same three months in 2013.
The competition will be won by the shelter saving the greatest number of pets more that the total for the same period in 2003. The Challenge asks shelters (and their communities) to adopt more homeless cats and dogs, reunite more lost pets with their families and transfer more animals to rescue partners.
Since June 1, Foothills as saved more than 2,500 orphaned pets.
The "Out With A Splash' event is two days only - Friday, Aug. 29 and Saturday, Aug 30 at Foothills Animal Shelter, 580 McIntyre Street in Golden near 6th Avenue and Indiana.

LONGMONT HUMANE SOCIETY - Paws in the Park will be held on Saturday, Sept. 13 to benefit the animals of Longmont Humane Society(www.longmonthumane.org) . It will feature a three-mile dog walk, 5K run and a pet-centric festival.
The 5K run and the dog walk will start at the Boulder County Fairgrounds Picnic Pavilion. Participants can visit the Pawdestrian Festival, an area with more than 25 pet-friendly merchants. There will be demonstrations and an adoptable pet parade of Longmont Humane animals.
All dog walk and 5K run participants are asked to collect pledges from their family, friends and colleagues to help the animals in need. Individuals who raise at least $50 will receive an official Paws in the Park t-shirt. Prizes will be awarded to the overall top adult fundraiser, youth fundraiser and top fundraising team.
