February is Spay and Neuter Month for pets and Foothills Animal Shelter is making a special offer to pet parents. They are offering discounts on spay and neuter surgeries in February.
Having a pet spayed or neutered provides many benefits for the pet and the community. Neutering helps with hormone-driven behaviors such as urine marking and roaming. A pet that has been fixed has less chance of testicular, mammary and ovarian cancers making for a long and happy life. Most importantly, neutering prevents tens of thousands of unwanted litters every year. According to Foothills, several million animals enter shelters nationwide every year with too few able to find permanent homes.
Foothills Animal Shelter offers low-cost spay and neuter surgeries to the public and in February they have lowered the cost even more. The first 100 pet parents who schedule a surgery in February will get an extra $10 off the cost. That means cat spay and neuters are only $30 while dog neuters are $55 and dog spays are $65. There are still discount spots available, but appointments must be scheduled in advance. Call the shelter at 720-407-5215 to schedule and appointment.
Last month Foothills Animal Shelter helped 400 pets find forever homes. Learn about spay and neuter, pet adoption and more by visiting the Foothills Animal Shelter website or Facebook page.
