Football to face BYU in 2015, 2017 seasons

Fresno State football will be playing Brigham Young in the 2015 and 2017 seasons, the schools announced Wednesday.

The first meeting will take place at LaVell Edwards Stadium in Provo on Nov. 21, 2015.

The Cougars will visit Bulldog Stadium on Nov. 4, 2017.

"This is a great regional matchup for our football program," BYU Athletic Director Tom Holmoe told The Fresno Bee. “It’s been more than a decade since we played Fresno State.

"If tradition holds true, fans will be in for a high-scoring game featuring two former Western Athletic Conference foes.”

The two schools have met nine times before with the last meeting being in 1998 when both teams were part of the Western Athletic Conference.

Fresno State leads the series, 5-4.
