Football is back: Colts kick off preseason on the road against Jets

While the Indianapolis Colts have been working hard to prepare for the 2014 season, their fans have been waiting for a chance to see them in action. The time has come when football fans can watch a game for the first time since February. The Colts kickoff the preseason on the road in New York as they match up against the Jets on Thursday night.

Earlier this week, the Colts released their Unofficial Depth Chart for Thursdays game in New York. While this chart will give fans an idea where players are at thus far, Head Coach Chuck Pagano made it clear it is very much still in progress.

"Its still in pencil. One's in ink. But the rest are in pencil right now," said Pagano of the depth chart.

Quarterback Andrew Luck seems to have his spot on the roster confirmed, as he should. The rest of the players need to continue to work hard through 2014 Training Camp and the preseason games in order to secure their spot on the roster. Training Camp runs through Sunday, August 10.

Reggie Wayne is not expected to play against the Jets. Wayne is coming back from an ACL injury he sustained during the Colts' victory over the Broncos in 2013. Wayne sitting out Thursday was to be expected due to the fact Pagano has also limited his participation at Training Camp. In Wayne's absence, T.Y. Hilton, Hakeem Nicks and Donte Moncrief will lead the receivers against the Jets.

There has been questions surrounding the center position since the departure of Samson Satele, who was released by the Colts in March. Satele was signed by the Colts as an unrestricted free agent in 2012 after the beloved Jeff Saturday was released. The Colts have Khaled Holmes starting at center on Thursday.

Luck and company kickoff against Geno Smith and the Jets on Thursday, August 7 at MetLife Stadium at 7:00 P.M. Indianapolis fans can watch the game on local channel WNDY TV23. The game will also broadcast on the Vectren Radio Network.
