As game day approaches the super market is stacked with pyramids of suggested serving selections that would pair perfectly with a pyramid of Tums. Who says that bean dip and canned cheese are the staples of super bowl? Instead of succumbing to the traditional go for the win with something a little different. On Sunday, February 3rd the Baltimore Ravens will be playing the San Francisco 49ers at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana, a line-up that opens up an array of deliciousness.
Not only is the Mardi Gras theme up for grabs but nothing says Maryland and California like crab and chardonnay, but hey this is football so let’s really put out the spread. This is no wine and cheese party—well whining is probably going to happen—this menu is about longevity and sustenance as most parties start before the game even begins.
Hailing from the East coast and lead by Coach John Harbaugh with a 10-6 record the Baltimore Ravens table roster includes; Maryland Crab Cakes, New England clam chowder, Soft Shell Crabs and a Smith Island Cake.
Flying in from the West Coast and lead by none other than the brother of the Baltimore Ravens coach, Jim Harbaugh, lays out his own impressive spread for the San Francisco 49ers of Sourdough garlic bread, Cioppino, deep fried artichokes and a Ghirardelli chocolate cupcakes.
For that middle of the line fan a neutral table representing the New Orleans field will please those on the fence of who to cheer for. For the undecided or ambivalent serve, Andouille sausage, shrimp etouffee and bread pudding.
Whether you or your guests are there for the football, food, or commercials this transcontinental menu is sure to leave everyone with a superb taste in their mouth even if their team eats dirt.
