Football Cocktails: JETS v STEELERS

The end of football season in nearing and the Super Bowl XLII is in sight. Now, more than ever football fans are rooting for their players and cheering hard for their teams. They're donning team colors, team jerseys and the ever attractive face paint to sit in front of the TV and scream their lugs out. With all that testosterone in the room beer and chips seem a natural pairing. And while beer is great and gassy and all there's a way to take your fanaticism to a new level: team cocktails.

In honor of tonights football battle, Jets v Steelers, here are some cocktails that will not only upgrade your team dedication but your taste buds as well. However, if football isn't your thing but you dig these cocktails you can get them all over LA from the hottest hot spot to the diviest dive bar and the sportiest sports pub. 

NEW YORK JETS

There's only one thing New Yorkers take more seriously than their team sports and that's their cocktails. You don't have to live in one of the Boroughs to feel like a New Yorker. Fix yourself one of these cocktails and you'll feel right at home.

The New York Cocktail

  • 2 oz blended whiskey

  • 1 oz lemon juice

  • 1 tsp superfine sugar

  • splash of grenadine

  • lemon twist for garnish

Pour the ingredients into a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake well and strain into a chilled cocktails glass. Garnish with the lemon twist.

The Bronx

  • 1 1/2 oz gin

  • 1/4 oz dry vermouth

  • 1/4 oz sweet vermouth

  • 1 oz orange juice

  • orange slice for garnis

Pour the ingredients into a coctails shaker with ice. Shake well and strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with the orange slice. 

THE PITTSBURG STEELERS 

Pennsylvania is a tough state to live in during football season with all the freezing snow and sleet which is why it's a good thing you don't have to live there to appreciate these cocktails. You can root your team on and stay warm at the same time. 

The Pennsylvania 

  • 2 oz light rum
  • 1/2 oz pineapple juice
  • 1 dash grenadine 

Pour all ingredients into a collins glass with ice. Give a good stir and enjoy.

The Steeler

  • 1 1/2 oz whiskey
  • 1/2 oz triple sec
  • dash of Angostura bitters
  • Tsp of powdered sugar

Add all ingredients into a shaker tin filled with ice. Shake wel and strain into a cocktail.martini glass. Garnish with a lemon twist if you choose.
