Chef Brian Poe of Poe's Kitchen at The Rattlesnake, Estelle's and Tip Tap Room joins Road Trip with G. Garvin Tuesday, August 5 at 10 p.m. when he takes to the kitchen at Estelle's in the South End to prepare such Southern specialties as chicken fried steak, cheesy scrambled eggs and chocolate peanut butter and banana pie that will leave viewers drooling. The episode also takes Garvin to Highland Kitchen in Somerville and Darryl's Corner Bar & Kitchen in the South End where a Southern twist is part of many menu items.

On Thursday, August 7 at 10 p.m. Chef Jason Santos joins the fray at Beat Bobby Flay, battling with former Iron Chef America winner Neal Fraser from Los Angeles. Former Hell's Kitchen runner-up Santos owns Blue, Inc., Abby Lane and Back Bay Harry's in Boston.

Later this month, National Rum Day is coming up on August 16 and Privateer Rum, with roots in New England rum-making traditions, offers some recipes by in-house Mixologist Kevin Martin, former head bartender at Eastern Standard Kitchen & Drinks in Kenmore Square.

For something more traditional, he suggests

Perfect Storm
2 oz. Privateer Silver Reserve Rum
5 oz. Ginger Beer
2 Dashes Angostura Bitters

Combine ingredients into a highball glass with ice. Garnish with a lime wedge.

Or try his pink grapefruit-inspired concoction -

Ruby Rose
2 oz. Privateer Silver Reserve Rum
4 oz. Fresh Ruby Grapefruit Juice
½ oz. Simple Syrup
1 Sprig Rosemary

Muddle Rosemary and rum in a highball glass. Add grapefruit juice, simple syrup and ice.
