Today, we're back on our regularly scheduled food truck search, and eating breakfast again at Babycakes Pancake truck. Each stack of pancakes on the menu is $5, and provides a heaping stack of pancakes.
The extensive catering menu, sadly, isn't available on a day-to-day basis when stopping by this food truck before the daily grind, be it a long day in the office or shopping along Michigan Avenue, but when I stopped by the list included Red Velvet, Sausage Cheddar, and Bacon, Egg, and Cheese, and my order came with a to-go container of maple syrup.
The pancakes came in a plastic container which, while better than styrofoam for the environment, sadly do not keep the pancakes as warm, so if you have an office microwave, go ahead and heat those babies up - in this cold, brutal weather, nothing makes a day better than a warm breakfast.
Of course, if you can't heat up the pancakes, this just means you have to eat them more quickly.
The red Babycakes food truck has its' schedule posted on the company's website, and makes appearances all over town. For the next month or so, on Monday the van will be at 600 W. Chicago; on Wednesday at 750 N Orleans St, and on Thursday at 125 S. Clark/ the intersection of Clark and Monroe.
