Annie's Inc., which sells natural and organic products, has issued a voluntary recall of their Annie's Homegrown Frozen Pizza due to an incident at their supplier's flour mill where a faulty metal mesh screen caused pieces of the metal mesh to get into the dough and flour. Although they have high-quality control testing and metal detection devices, some of the pieces are so small it's possible they could have gotten into the final product anyway although nothing has yet been found. The products were distributed nationwide.
It's important to know that there have been no complaints, injuries or illnesses attributed to the voluntary recall and this is just a precaution to protect their customers.
The best by dates on the products potentially affected are between January 9, 2013 and September 14, 2013 and include Organic Pepperoni Pizza, Organic Sausage Pizza, Organic Four Cheese Pizza, Four Cheese Pizza, Organic Spinach and Mushroom Pizza, Pepperoni Pizza and BBQ Recipe Chicken Pizza.
If you have any of the aforementioned pizzas, you can return it to the store for a refund.
They issued a statement on their Facebook page on January 22 and the majority of their customers commented about their support and expressed their love of the company.
