food rules

If you are trying to eat healthier, more nutritious food, you have to read Food Rules by Michael Pollan.  This eater's manual will help you decide what you should eat, what kind of food you should eat and how you should eat.  This book shows you that making choices about what you should eat doesn't have to be so complicated.

This manual has a total of 64 rules that help guide you to making simple choices about food.  Here are just a few of the funnier ones.

Rule 20

It's not food if it arrived through the window of your car.

Rule 36

Don't eat breakfast cereals that change the color of milk.

Rule 39

Spend as much time enjoying the meal as it took to prepare it.

Rule 51

Eat all the junk food you want as long as you cook it yourself.

Pick this book up for yourself or a friend.  It's not only helpful, it's funny.  You can find it at your local Barnes and Noble.

Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution

Jamie Oliver, also known as the Naked Chef, is trying to make a difference in America.  He believes that every child in America has the right to fresh, nutritious school meals, and that every family deserves real, honest, wholesome food.

"This Food Revolution is about changing the way we eat. We need to start cooking again, to make sure our children don't grow up on a diet of processed food, at school or at home, and so they won't have to battle obesity and diet-related illnesses when they grow up. Cooking is one of the most important skills a person can have and it has been proven that families who cook together eat better. A small change in your kitchen in could save the life of someone you love. America needs to do something now, before it's too late."  Jamie Oliver
