Tri-Union Seafoods LLC is recalling cans of Chicken of the Sea tuna. According to a press release issued by the Food and Drug Administration, the popular 12-ounce cans of solid white tuna packed in water are being recalled due to "faulty seals" which could result in product contamination. According to the release, the product "does not meet the company's standards for seal tightness and the company is conducting the precautionary, voluntary recall out of an abundance of caution to ensure public health."
While no illnesses have currently been reported, cans with UPC code "480-000-0262" and "Best By Date 2/10/2014" with product code 7OA1E ASWAB, 7OA2E ASWAB, 7OA3E ASWAB, 7OA4E ASWAB, 7OA5E ASWAB, 7OAEE ASWAB or 7OAFE ASWAB." This is a precautionary, voluntary recall involving 1, 105 cases of cans in 10 states - Wisconsin, Nebraska, Utah, Pennsylvania, New York, Maine, Colorado, Indiana, California and Oregon.
