The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service have announced that the manufacturer of “Kraft Velveeta Cheesy Skillets Singles- Ultimate Cheeseburger Mac”, Truitt Brothers is recalling approximately 1.8 million pounds of their product according to CNN Money on Jan. 20 due to an undeclared allergen.
This product is a microwavable container weighing nine ounces filled with macaroni and cheese. Truitt Brothers Inc. located in Kentucky is recalling all packages produced and distributed between May 6, 2013 and Jan. 16, 2014.
The undeclared allergen is soy. An ingredient used to create the cheesy skillets. This food product is made with allergens known as hydrolyzed soy protein and dried soy sauce. None of these soy ingredients are listed on the package labels and therefore are considered undeclared and need to be recalled so the consumers who consume this food product won’t have an allergic reaction, sensitivity or suffer a related condition due to these ingredients.
These packages have been distributed to centers and retail stores across the United States. They contain a “Used By/Sell By Date” range from March 2, 2014 to October 23, 2014. The code on the package reads: “02 MARCH 2014 23 OCT 2014”.
None of the other Kraft or Velveeta food products are affected by this recall. The only product affected is the: Kraft Velveeta 'Cheesy Skillets Singles-Ultimate Cheeseburger Mac'.
