Food Network special has chefs make a meal from wasted food: ‘The Big Waste’

Food Network will have many foodies tuning in on Sunday night for The Big Waste as famous chefs explore the issue of food waste in America in a challenge. While the food show is set to be a competition by using food that would normally be tossed into the trash as the ingredients, there is a bigger issue revealed as some of that waste doesn’t need to be thrown out after all.

Showing all the items not placed on a plate as they spoil, the sneak peek of the special has mountains of fruits, vegetables and other edible items being wasted. Sharing the visual aspect of a farmer mulching a mountain of vegetables and showing what a produce market throws away, the perspective on how much food is tossed is stunning.

What also is stunning is how four well-known chefs including Bobby Flay, Michael Symon, Anne Burrell and Alex Guarnaschelli can take this so called waste and make it into a meal that anyone, including the richest, would eat. Being good at their jobs, the chefs prove anything is possible and share that some of that waste isn’t really bad food after all.

The Big Waste is a show that shares just how much food is not consumed in America while people are going without. Taking items from produce farms, grocery garbage piles and other places, there appears to be a gluttony of waste everywhere which is ever so shocking.
