Food Justice program on Sunday

The first Just Food Summit held in Silicon Valley will happen this coming Sunday, October 30th, from 1:30 - 4:30 pm at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 1957 Pruneridge Ave. Santa Clara. Sponsored by Working Partnerships USA and the Interfaith Council on Economics and Justice, the Just Food Summit will offer information and resources for individuals and communities interested in working for justice for everyone involved in supplying our food, from farmworkers to producers and vendors.

Issues to be addressed include food access and quality, job quality, and better health for children, adults and seniors. Listen to stories from workers and consumers and learn about the wide range of issues involved. Take part in a world cafe session to develop an action plan on the local level. Stroll through the information fair and get resources, learn about volunteer opportunities, or get out of your comfort zone and learn about how the choices you make at the grocery store can affect people at every step of the food system.

The Food Summit is a continuation of a community effort that included the interfaith "Labor in the Pulpits" program last Labor Day weekend, in which Rabbis and Muslims spoke to Catholics, Catholics preached to Protestants, Buddhists spoke in synagogues and labor leaders presented in their own houses of worship.
