Food, inc. playing at Cedar Lee theater

Food, inc. is a documentary about the industrialized farming in our nation.  Anyone who eats should make an effort to see this movie and become informed.
Filled with interviews from nationally recognized experts, the movie reveals thought provoking and somewhat alarming truths about what we eat and how it's produced. It is reminiscent of prior documentaries such as Super Size Me or the PBS feature King Corn.
Fast food and corn products have invaded the diet of far too many Americans. Food, inc. is a sobering look behind industrialized food farming. Food is no longer found in a pasture, but in factories where animals are grown to fit into the processing machines and fed unnatural diets filled with chemicals. The sheer volume of animals in these factories sheds a light on the growth of food borne illness. One sick animal could taint thousands of pounds of meat. One of the more heart wrenching segments of the movie featured a mother whose child died from E. coli poisoning due to tainted ground beef.
The movie does end on a note of hope and encouragement, inciting viewers to participate in the process and become informed. It is the sort of movie that will encourage families to carefully consider their diet and how they spend their grocery dollars.  Magnolia pictures released this film to a national audience this month. Locally, it is playing at Cedar Lee theater, a charming movie house in the vibrant Cedar Lee neighborhood of Cleveland Heights.
This movie is a rated PG and appropriate for most children. It is important to learn more about what they eat on a regular basis and why their parents would encourage healthy eating.
