This weekend's agenda

Saturday, December 10, 9am: "Wreaths Across America Ceremony and Wreath Laying" at the grave sites of our veterans in Tahoma Cemetery, 1802 Tahoma Ave in Yakima. 

Sat., Dec. 10: Santa Claus trolley at S. 3rd Avenue and West Pine from 11am to 3pm

This is where Santa takes a break from his sleigh to ride our nearby trolley. If you or your children want to meet him, plan to take a 30 minute ride on Yakima's historic streetcars. Bring your camera. Also check out the 1911 powerhouse building for holiday crafts and other treats.   Purchase tickets on the day of the event.  

Sat., Dec. 10: Zillah's old-fashioned Christmas, downtown at 2pm

Games, music, Santa for the kids.

Sat./Sun., Dec. 10-11: Toy train Christmas at 10 Asotin Ave in Toppenish from 10am to 4pm

You and your family might want to join Mr. and Mrs. Claus at the North Pole this weekend. You just need to take a short caboose ride from the Northern Pacific Railway Museum to get there. Cookies and hot chocolate included in the price of admission: $6 adults, $4 children 12 and under. For additional fee, you can get a photo with Santa.  

Sat., Dec. 10, 5-8pm: Out-of-the-Box Palate Pleasures, Apex Cellars in Prosser, 357 Port Street, Studio G

At the courtyard under the stars: "Seven Syrahs: 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2004, 2005, and 2006 in limited quantities will be available for this event. A cigar presentation is hosted by Little Brown Smoke Shoppe." For information, call 509-786-1800.

Fri./Sat., 2/9-12/10, 20th Annual Luminaria, 1401 Arboretum Drive, 6-9pm.

"Follow a mile-long candle-lit pathway through the Yakima Area Arboretum, over a 1000 candles will light your way. Venture past the tallest lighted Christmas tree in Central Washington. Stroll through the twinkling lights of the Japanese Garden and then onto the Jewett Interpretive Center where you will warm up with steaming cups of Starbuck's coffee, hot apple cider from Tree Top, and tasty treats from the kitchen crew at Zirkle Fruit Company. While warming up, enjoy live music from talented local musicians. Children can make their own luminary bag to take home. For information, call 509-248-7337."
